Default t-stat 01 1500 3.9

Want to replace the t-stat on my 01 1500 3.9 w/ a/c. Man is that thing buried. Looks like at least the Alternator gotta be moved, maybe the A/C. Any shortcuts/tips? Looks like a half day job for this one.
Thanks
Matt

I have a 2001 and to change out the t-stat would take less than an hour for the 3.9L with no rear HVAC.

- Disconnect the battery power.
- Crank the tension belt pulley back and slip off the belt
- remove the alternator
- drain the radiator if needed
- undo the hose clamps to the metal chimney over the T-stat
- remove the chimney metal stack (care of not breaking the two bolts in the block)
- pop out the t-stat
- clean the old gasket residue the best you can (very important)
- place in the new t-stat (180 is ok or 190 is best for MPG results)
- place on a new gasket
- clean the chimney base and place atop the gasket
- finger tight the two bolts
- with 20lbs inch force, tighten the bolts
- place on the hose and clamps
- fill radiator if needed
- put back the alternator
- put the belt back on and under tension
- connect the battery
- start the engine an look for leaks
- no leaks, then go for a drive and monitor the temp rise and change

Well, it's somewhat still fresh in my head since replacing the entire cooling system last Spring.
