suspension upgrade options
hey all
was wondering if there are any options to upgrade the suspension so it isnt so plush. I was thinking maybe some bilstein shocks and maybe a rear sway bar for the rear. any stiffer and lowering springs available out there?
does anybody know if this swaybar kit from addco will work on a 02 b3500?

I am a big Fan of the KYB gas a Justs.
They really eliminated that floaty, removed from the road 70's Cadilliac feel.
I have them on all 4's and would not consider anything else.
I heard the Bilsteins were even stiffer, but have no experience ths no opinion.
A trusted mechanic I know who has done a lot of suspensions says he has seen many many failed bilsteins but never a failed KYB Gas a Just, so at less than half the price, it was a no brainer for me.
I upgraded my front coils from the stock Moog 7270 diameter to the thicker Moog 7272 when I rebuilt my whole front suspension. I was worried they would be too stiff, but they are not. Stiffer yes, breadtruck like, no.
I also have Firestone ride rite airbags helping the rear leafs. I keep 15 to 25 psi in them and it significantly reduces body roll. If I pump them up to 50 PSI the Van turns nearly flat. At 100 PSI, the rear is raised over 4 inches compared to 0 psi. It it nice to adjust them for sleeping or camping in uneven locations. I don't often carry passengers but over 30 psi in the rear makes the ride harsher, and probably unpleasant. The former Gabriels I had back there could not easily control the bouncy factor of the airbags. The KYB's GAJ's were a vast improvement
I heard adding the rear sway bars are only an issue on the premagnum('93and earlier) vans when the gas tank was in the back.
I do not feel as if one would be of any benefit on my Van with the rear Airbags.
Polyurethane bushings on the front sway bar make a big difference in handling over the stock rubber ones

I installed Performance Suspension Technologies complete PolyGraphite Suspension Bushings on my front and rear back in 06. All PST bought Moog front suspension parts, PST 1-1/4" front sway, PST 1" rear sway bar. My van handles incredible. The best thing about the PolyGraphite bushings is no squeak, and my front end rarely needs alignment. I have used KYBs on every vehicle I have had since the mid seventies, so of course back in 2000 when I got my 94 I right away put KYBs front and rear, around 05 the fronts were dead, first time ever for my KYBs. so I bought more and about two years ago the second set were dead. so now I am on bilsteins in the front and original KYBs on the rear. I am happy with the bilsteins so far.
