auto trans swap from '98 1500 pickup into my '93 3500 van advice wanted
My 4 speed O.D. transmission in my 1993 3500 360c.i. 15 passenger van went out and I'm looking for a donor. I found the transmission out of a 1998 dodge 1500 pickup with a 360 but I'm not sure if it'll work. I heard that an electronic governor was introduced in 1997, so that could be a deal breaker. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Don

Mopar uses a suffix in their transmission model numbers to indicate how the transmission is managed. For example, an RH trans is Hydraulically controlled while a RE trans is Electronically controlled.
Not too sure about physical dimensions when installing a 98 trans into a 93 (easy enough to figure out with a little effort I'd say) but I will recommend you at least attempt to perform a like-for-like swap when it comes to a RH situation.
I think the RE electronics from 93 to 98 are way different so that would probably be a challenge. The big passenger vans usually have 4 speed transmission with O/D (like you stated) so you are probably in for some fun -- assuming you will be dealing with a RE situation.
Good luck.
