starts but stalls out
hi everyone new to this site. i have a 1991 dodge ram b250 day van.
I was driving the van when all the ignition went out i now have no ignition lights all i found was a low voltage to the red wire on the ignition barrel i by passed this with the direct wire from the battery to the to the ignition with an in line fuse started the van had it ticking over for an hour but as soon as you put it in gear drives forward fine at 10 mph but as soon as you bring up the revs it blows the fuse and once again i have no ignition. does any one have any idea where i go from here.
thanks luke

Assuming you are using the correct sized fuse, my first suspect would be the ignition coil being internally shorted because of the higher current demand as the RPMs go up when under a load.
Other than that, you might want to investigate whether or not your ASD relay is working.

thank you very much for your help. i have ordered an ASD relay from rock autos, as we live in the uk this will take a week to arrive, when i brought the van a year ago it had a CHECK ENGINE light on the dash i tracked this down to another alternator fitted rewired differently so it would charge, the original alternator was in the back of the van which has no regulator, iam told the regulator is in the ECM computer, as i would like to rewire this van properly and replace the ECM, but there is no serial number on the ECM does any one know where the regulator is on this van, thanks again for your help luke
