How would you describe the V6 bad idle when due to plenum gasket failure?

How would you describe the V6 bad idle when due to plenum gasket failure?
When the plenum gasket leaks in the V6, what happens to the idle?
-- Surges up and down?
-- Stumbles (like bad timing in the bad old days)?
-- Skips a beat regularly?
-- Cylinder misfire?
-- or.... ?
(Looking at a 1500 w/146k on the engine. Won't be able to tell much about oil consumption or recent gas mileage).
