Default 1989 5.2 hunting

My 1989 b350 has started to hunt at idle, and it means it occasionally stalls in slow moving traffic. This is made worse by the fact it doesn't start very well when warm/hot, it cranks fine and turns over fast (idle speed) but I have to try to feed in gas to get it to catch - can take a few attempts which is not good in heavy traffic. Additionally it seems to bog down when starting to move, but catches up and then runs fine.

I've recently replaced battery, plugs, cables, rotor, dist cap and ECU. I believe I gapped the plugs correctly, but will double check.

I checked for trouble codes as I suspect a temp sensor, but there were not any.

Any advice greatly appreciated!

The EGR might be stuck partially open. It can be removed and cleaned.

The fuel pressure might be low.

If you recently changed the battery, you should be getting a code 12. If you are getting no codes, not even a 55, then you are not doing the key dance right, or you computer is faulty

Thanks, I'll try to see if I can accomplish that.
Yes, I had code 12 and 55.
