Default Is there a heat shield underneath the vehicle near the exhaust and cat?

hey all,

so I have a 2002 dodge ram van 3500 that was previously converted to a handicap van.

I recently noticed that the mid section of the vehicle floor is pipping HOT to touch!!! alot of heat is radiating from beneath so upon further investigation I noticed there is no heat shield above the exhaust can, is there one normally? if there is one I'm thinking perhaps when the van was converted they removed the heatshield to install the tiedown rails into the floor boards.

My '89 has heat shields. I had to relocate them slightly when I got a catback installed.

Later on my buddy had some Aircraft grade heatshields from a B-29. I installed one of these over the pipe between the cat and flowmaster, as my fridge sites above this area and i don't the floor getting hot in that area.

I have a 2000 Dodge 1500 van, and yes it has several bolt-in heat shields. Over the cat, over the muffler and yet another under the step area for the side doors.
