Default Custom Vans

I have a 1997 Dodge 1500 Zephr custom van .It was the cream of the crop in its day with all the options[VHS,TV, back row power bed ect] .The interior condition is great and the exterior not perfect, but way above average.160,000 miles but excellent maintenance.I hope someone can help me by telling about what it is worth,or where I could find that information.

Thanks

You can get a rough idea by entering your vehicles info into the calculators at edmonds.com and kelly blue book (kbb.com). You can also watch craigslist for your area for a few months and see what vans like yours are selling for. And note which vehicles never seem to sell even after multiple price reductions.

The factory paint on these vans is notoriously bad and they rust very quickly. A professional paint job , properly prepped, on a full size van costs at least $2000 in my area. Subtract that cost plus whatever other damage from max value and you'll probably be in the ballpark.

The truth is that used car and truck prices are pretty much whatever the market will bear. Right now these vans often sell for about half what they are worth.

Thanks for the reply blackvan. My van has always been garaged and has no rust problem. The main thing is that the old people hauler just isn't used enough to make sure it stays dependable, but on the other hand it has never let us down either. It made all the school trips and ball games full of happy kids and never failed to return, not even a flat. Now that the big vans have lost their once great popularity, ours is the only one in the huge mall parking lots and we can find it easily too.

Haven't decided if we will sell or not,but with 8 cars[a few old convertibles ] and 2 drivers it doesn't get the driving it needs.Would almost be like selling an old friend.

Have a great weekend

Good luck with this one!! When I decided I wanted to return to a conversion van a couple of years ago, I had problem with financing because creditors had a problem with how to place value on them. They are listed as trucks or just work vans and even tho people know how incredible they can be made inside, they don't have a clue as to how to place a value on it.
