Default Jumpy fuel pressure reading

Been having some power delivery issues, and I took a fuel pressure reading today. When started up, it read 55psi rock solid on the nose, and then the needle began jumping back and forth rapidly.

Is it time to get cracking on a new fuel pump? Today, while attempting to accelerate at full throttle, the engine power just started scrambling and the engine choked badly. I'm getting the feeling fuel pressure is not being correctly maintained, but I cannot leave my meter attached to the fuel rail to check.

Ideas?

TIA.

Yes time for a new fuel pump module. Cold it is doing fine but as the pump motor heats up is when you are getting the bad readings.

Hose is too damn short. I'm going to borrow one with a longer hose today from a friend that can reach far enough to where I can actually read it while driving.

Just bring a helper to either read the gauge or to do the driving while you read it.
