Default '92 318 Transmission Band adjustment....what trans do I have?

Hello,

Been wondering for a while what transmission is in my parents van, its all stock, but I wanted to adjust the bands on it as it likes to stay in first gear and not shift into second gear until high Rpm's until its warmed up, sometimes it just skips second gear totally.

Main 2 questions are, What Transmission would come equiped on a 1992 250 Ram Van with a 318 and what are the adjustment specs on a 330,000 Mile transmission? Basically I laid 20 feet of posi marks about 5 years ago when I barrowed my parents van and the transmission hasn't shifted right since then. My Uncle who used to own the van weighed close to 500lbs and used to beat the living $hit out of it and he never stopped completely when changing from reverse to drive or ect so I'm not going to take full blame for it being sketchy now lol.

Anyway it works just fine once its warmed up and I think a band adjustment will cure the problem as a similar thing happened with my Neon skipping second gear and adjusting the bands got it back to working normal.

Thanks guys.

First let us know which tranny you have. Transmission identification numbers are stamped on the driver side of the case flange just above the oil pan gasket. There will be a 9 digit part number, a space, a 4 digit build date, a space, and a 4 digit serial number.

Auto Trans code breaks down like this:

4 = 4 forward speeds
6 = strength of trans. (1-9, higher number, stronger trans.)
R = Rear wheel drive
H=Hydraulic controlled, E = Electronic controlled shift
