Default Transmission Dipstick Tube install

Do i have to remove the transmission pan to install a new dipstick & tube. Also does the rubber "tophat seal go in from the top of the transmission 1st or do i put it onto the stick & press both in at the same time ?

very rare you have to remove the transmission pan to install a new dipstick for it. The O-Ring (rubber) I normally install into the hole first before putting the dipstick in.

Just and FYI, might want to put in the info of what you are doing this too.

The part i was sent did NOT have an O-ring, It has a tophat shaped bushing or washer & the tube fits down into it ? 1996 Dodge B-2500 3/4ton 8cylinder Van

aye so its a grommet not an o-ring, for sure install the grommet first then install the tube.

If you need to you can use some trans fluid or some vaseline to help lube it a little for it to drop in easier
