Default 1992 B250, black box, heater core housing help...

Just bought a 1992 B250 and half of the big black box that houses the heater core and A/C Evaporator has been torn away.
The A/C components appear to have all been removed so basically I need to find a new black box (top and bottom) that the heater core fits into.
I won't be hooking up the A/C so the box will basically be there for the heater core and to pass smog here in CA.
I went to the local junkyard and found some similar black boxes but none exactly like what's left of mine.
Do I need the exact replacement? Or since I am not hooking up A/C can I just find one and rig it to work?
What is this big black housing box called? I have been looking online for parts and cannot find it anywhere. All I can find is heater core and Evaporator but none for the box!
Anyone have any info on this black box? Thanks!

When being official I've always called the "heater box".

Check here: http://www.car-part.com/index.htm
They call it a "heater assy."
