Is the radiator cooling fan supposed to ALWAYS run?
I recently bought a 1992 Ram 250 van and I noticed when starting it on a chilly morning that the radiator fan comes on and stays on whenever the engine is on.
Is it supposed to do that? I realize it can speed up when it gets too hot but is the fan supposed to be on constantly? Not sure if I should be concerned by this or not. Thanks!

Yes, the fan is belt driven, thus it's always on. The sad thing is, if the engine is cooled too much in the winter the MPG drops. So, covering 50% of the front of the radiator just behind the grill allows the temps to stay warmer (about 186).
My RAD is covered with a nice finished sheet of wood that is 12-in X 16-in X 1/4-in thick.
Just be sure the RAD is topped of and the coolant is 50/50. in normal winters. Colder winters need 60/40 (40% water that is). Check your manual.
