1994 Dodge Ram Van B250..HELP!!!
Hey guys i got a 94 dodge ram van b250 v6 3.6L
Iv been having some problems, hoping someone on here can help.
I was getting a bucking and jerking pulling off from red lights. and when i would stay a steady speed at 35mph and up i would get this jerking feeling but only at a stead speed. so i changed the spark plugs and cables, cap and button. ran great for 2 day! But now its just sitting in my drive way. i had it flood at on me once too before i changed the spark plugs. and now when i start it i get this bad smell of gas then it cuts out. when i do get it running i hold in the gas petal when i have it revving up high it starts popping out the muffler. i also get it running for around 5 mins but when i press in the gas and let off its like its losing power and trys to cut itself off. until it finally does while its sitting in idel.
Hope someone can please help me. i really need to get this thing running
Thanks , Todd

I would guess it is either the coil and/or PCM.
You could have a bad o2 sensor, but not likely.
Ya know there is about 10 other things it could be. Have you tried to get any codes out of the PCM.

I also had someone else work on my van and they did something with the chock and messed with the idel so now it idels high think that could be a problem?

If by "chock" you mean to say "choke" then you are headed in the wrong direction because your van does not have a carburetor, and therefore does not have a choke. Idle speed in a '94 is controlled electronically.
There is a set-screw in the aluminum throttle body which holds the butterfly slightly open which should never be touched -- that is set at the factory. If the person or shop that worked on your van attempted to increase your idle speed by moving that set-screw have them put it back the way it was; your problem lies elsewhere.
I would suggest fuel delivery as your possible problem. If the van has over 100K-125K miles on it and the fuel pump has never been replaced that could be causing the issues you describe. Bring the van to a professional and have him check your ASD Relay, your fuel pressure, and your fuel pump.

If it starts and idles fine and runs OK at speeds under 25mph then I'd say your fuel pump might not be delivering enough fuel to keep up with the demand at highway speeds. The fuel filter is part of the pump, and cannot be individually replaced. A fuel pump replacement is a messy, lengthy ordeal as the gas tank must be drained, removed, and all debris thoroughly flushed out but all in all its not really a expensive repair.
If the van only experiences the issues under heavy load or at speeds over 50 then your transmission may be on its last legs. Does it have trouble going into gear first thing in the morning when the vehicle is still cold, but act normal later once its warmed up?
