I have a 2000 Dodge 3500 extended van. I left my buddies house and couldnt get out of 1st gear for a mile. I pulled over and check fluid everything checked out. Started driving normal but slow to accelerate. Next day driving normal, but my check engine light is on, and pulled up code P1762. I was told "OFF SET VOLTAGE OUT OF SPEC FOR 3 SEC" any ideas???
The P1762 is indicating trouble with the governor pressure inside the tranny. It's a simple fix if you bring it in now. If you procrastinate you will end up burning the clutches in the tranny, resulting in the need for a rebuild.

One question ... Was a power-inverter running when the van was acting up this way? On a family trip, we had a new sine-wave inverter in use. The tranny acted up really bad, even to the point of not getting out of 1st gear. What happened was, the sine-wave affected the PCM. I had to disconnect the battery, then turn the key to fully on for 10min. Then put it all back together. The PCM then worked fine, but the PCM had to re-learn the tranny shifts. About 100 miles, things ran smooth ever since.
So, there are two things to look into here.
2000 5.2L 3500 van,Yeah i replaced govoner pressure sensor and solinoid in the transmission it was a simple fix and im just a carpet guy. Saved alot of money doing it my self. I got rid of the two trans codes. But I still have P0138 and know P0141, which are O2 sensor bank 1 sensor 2. Is that all I would have to do is replace the 02 sensor or is there more???

If the wiring to that sensor is good then yes replace the sensor. Just don't use Bosch 02 sensors. They will work but not accurite enough for the PCM, if you use one it will set the P0420 code with in 2K miles.Originally Posted by Carpetguy
