Need 96 B2500 5.2 Starting Issue Help
If my van sits for maybe 15 minutes or more, even warm,I have to use the throttle, maybe even pump it to get it to fire.
It cranks normally.
If I shut it off and go to restart it within a few minutes it starts up without having to hit the throttle, just like a fuel injected engine normally does.

How many seconds have you tried on the starter before giving it gas? On my van the old pump had the "Check Valve" go bad, I had to hold the start position on average 4 to 5 seconds for the van to fire up. Some have been able to do several primes and then start the van. That is where you turn the key and wait for the fuel pump to stop and turn off the key and turn it on again. Some have been able to just do one prime and start it up, others had to do three to five times and then it would start.

It is, but you can get an aftermarket check valve to put in the fuel line. I have not used one but have seen postings of them.
In my opinion if the check valve is bad then the rest of the pump module should be replaced since the fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator and pump are in that module and have seen as many miles as the check valve has.

oil pools in throttle body- upper intake manifold. this caused my delayed start.
