Default Location of crank sensor

With all of this talk about crank sensors in recent posts, I am thinking I need to be aware of mine. Can anyone give me a clue as to where it is located on a 5.2l 2001 B2500 van? Is this something that normally just goes bad with age? Is it smart to just replace it after 160,000 miles?

What about the coil? I can find that, but should I also just replace it as preventative maintenance?

When I use my van, I am usually on my way for a weekend, a week or a month of pleasure and the last thing I want is to have problems on the road, so I would rather work on it before I leave.

thanks for the advise...
