Default Going into timing case to replace everything

Since I have the engine out, (318). I plan on replacing everything to seal it up. Reading my manual says to use a silicone rubber adhesive sealant. This must be some serious stuff. Put it in the key way and install the key in the crankshaft. Do you actually do this? If so, what product do you use?

It says to put perfect seal or equivalent on the outside diameter of case cover oil seal before installation. I've never seen perfect seal. What is equivalent?

It says I need special tools for alignment of the case cove and seals and such. What tools do you use? My first time doing this. I'm good at doing this stuff once I've done it. Thanks for your knowledge.

Since you have the engine out -- I'd recommend replacing all of the freeze plugs.
Just my $.02 worth.

Engine has 186xxx easy driven miles on it. Maintained as well. After cleaning the engine. I looked at all of them and no signs of rust. Aren't they a pain to change out? I've never done it. There was one in the back that was rust colored at the bottom but it cleaned up.

Appreciate that BV. That's good knowledge. That's the dealership service manual talking about the special tools. One tool removes and installs cover seal and aligns it up too according to book. I guess that could be for in vehicle service if your not pulling the cover. I'm not sure, I'm just gonna have to get into it.

Have done that seal on two different vans my special tool. Piece of wood with a 5 pound hammer, just go slow and be sure it is square going in.
