Correct Engine Assy ?
Hello, So I have my 318 on an engine stand. I am replacing everything I think would be good to change while the engine is out. I have the oil pan off. The timing chain cover off. What would you put back on first considering the gaskets?
Also, I was wanting to do the plenium repair before installing the engine. But my problem is I'm having to mount the engine hoist leveler brackets to the two bolts in the back of the intake manifold. To clear my fuel rail. I read in the book that's a no no. It didn't say why. I figured because it might stretch the bolts and mess up the torque value. Anyhow, so I thought I would do the plenium repair once I installed the engine using the old bolts. Do you think it would mess up the intake if I did the repair now. Then use the two old rear bolts to install the engine. And then re-torque the two new rear bolts? Thanks for your input.

I would install the timing cover before the pan so that you do not end up with an oil pan gasket with the 2 slits through it at the timing cover.
The reason you do not support the engine at the intake is because the pull from the weight of the engine will shift the intake and ruin the intake gaskets. You could always install the engine without the intake and install it after the engine is in.
