torque converter
please find the attachment picture of the inside of the torque converter.
my question....is that the stator overrunning clutch? and the fact that it only has serrations partly left on it is that caused by wear? is the stator overrunning clutch slipping?
this torque converter is for my 1996 b2500 van (318/V8). it did have poor acceleration when going up to highway speeds.
what is the best type of new TC to purchase? A727, non-lockup, it's at least 1990 or newer transmission,
i do not know if its low stall or high stall. thank you.

There is no clutch per se inside of a non-lockup torque converter. Basically it's just 2 turbines, like one fan blowing on another fan forcing it to turn. There is a stator that has a device allowing it to move in only one direction. Some people refer to the device as a clutch, but it's semantics to me.
