Clicks but doesn't start 96 Dodge RAM Van
Yesterday night we had a no-start condition on our 96 Dodge RAM Van - it clicked when the key was on but didn't turn the engine.
We checked the battery load - ok, connections to the battery - ok, parking/neutral switch lever - ok, didn't get to the starter terminals yet.
After a few tries it started as usual. This morning the same problem - clicks but doesn't start. We didn't do anything but trying to start again and finally it started.
After we got to the destination I tried to start it with engine hot and it hesitated for a second like it didn't had enough power to the starter then started right away.
Any idea what could cause this and what we can do next?

I just fixed this issue on my '96. The starter solenoid needs a rebuild. You probably can by with merely cleaning it up. The kits are cheap. Some include the plunger and some don't... mine didn't but its been working great since I fixed it.
You can see vids on youtube about fixing this. Its the same starter/solenoid as many Toyotas of the same period had. It's a pretty darn easy fix too.

If not the starter solenoid, unplug and replug in the PCM/ECM three connectors. Just be gentle getting them off. Use CRC Electronic cleaner on them. Sometimes age and corroded contacts loose a good connection. Also check the engine to body frame ground straps. Also there is one from the tranny to the body frame.
Lastly, if the starting still is fussing, look into the ASD relay or the ignition coil to replace.
