1996 dodge van fuel pump issue
I bought a DEFG0368 for my van, 35 gallon tank (plastic) 1996 dodge 6 cylinder on 09/18/12 and failed within 16 months, . I could not find the mark on the tank to do the proper alignment. Any advice
Thank you.
Thank you.
On a 2000 - 2003 the index mark should point inward towards the center of the vehicle. I'm not certain if the same is true for a '96 as I don't have a manual for that year.
The two most common causes of replacement electric fuel pump failure are:
1. Failing to properly clean the fuel tank before installing the new pump
2. Failing to keep the gas tank full. Fuel is required to cool the pump and running around on 1/4 tank all the time is likely to burn up the fuel pump in a year or two.

any more info on this?
I am doing a fuel pump right now. tank is dropped. just waiting to figure out how to properly orientate the pump. not sure about position as well as where to set the height of the unit, do I set the height? the one that came out slid up and down, is this correct? it also had a worn through, grooved spot on it.
for a 96, 3.9l, 35 gallon tank
