1990 B250 brakes help needed!
1st, ABS light is on and has been on for 10 years. Recently I had an issue with pulling to the left upon braking and a slightly hard pedal. Replaced the brake line and bled system. No more pulling to the left! Within 20 miles very little pedal and going to the floor! Put on a new, bench bled master cylinder, bled the the system. Perfect for 30 miles very little pedal and going to the floor! Re-bled the system. Perfect pedal. 40 miles later very little pedal and going to the floor! Is that the booster?
Did you adjust the rear drums brakes when you did this other work? The drums are the first to apply and if they are way out of adjustment you will get a very low pedal. I would start by checking the adjustment on the rear drums and go from there.
Checked the rear brake adjustments. Good. I can unplug the vacuum line from the booster and without pumping the brakes stop the van. Though it is of course, a very hard pedal. Hook it back up and then pump like crazy to stop it. Is that strange or what? Any ideas?
Thank you all for your help. It turns out the new brake line was slightly sucking air. After it finally sopped sucking air it started leaking. Whupps...tightened it up correctly and no more stopping problems. Thought the light is still on after completely reworking the brakes on all four wheels. Calipers, wheel cylinders, new pads etc.
