autozone, advance, and napa all gave me the same replacement parts, trans filter and oil pump pickup screen. Im not sure if the ones that were on the van were original or not. I do know each replacement part didn't fit.

I have to take a trip to the dealer and see what parts they pull.

I'm afraid this these are the trials and tribulations you can expect from any 31 year old vehicle. Nobody can afford to shelf space to stock all parts for anything older than 10 -12 years old now. While I would be the first one to say a Dodge 360 is a 360 is a 360, but that simply isnt true, esp when is comes to vans. The oil pump pickup tubes are mostly likely different. Berst advice would be to replace the pump but carefully remove and clean the screenand tube, just clean them and reinstall.

In general: a stock window van is referred to as a wagon in factory nonmenclature while every other non-window version, including most all conversion vans, are known as cargo vans. The conversion companies add those large non-factory windows as part of the package. But they all use the same power trains AFAIK.

thats interesting, - Mine is a conversion van, old 15 years old, so I guess calling it a wagon does make sense with that info.

I did end up cleaning the old oil screen and reinstalling it. The oil Pump was exactly the same and replaced it since I had the Oil pan off.

no idea why the tranny oil pan is so shallow and requires a differnt filter than what everyone has in stock. Im just glad I have a parts store I could ride a bike to.

Hmm. According to my 2000 Dodge factory manual, the 3.9L should only be matched witha 36RH non-overdrive transmission so unless the motor/trans were swapped the should be no confusion. Some ealier versions of this motor could have been mated to 32RH transmissions which would probably not hold up well in this vehicle.

yeah. hummm. it is a 3-speed; no OD. oh and it's a 1999... The owners title says 2000. My recent VIN check confirms its a 1999. so much confusion. need to update the profile of my vehicle... probably a stupid thing t not look it up but just took it for granted the title was right...

yes, I checked all the messed up parts with this year too; still wrong.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but I believe a 32RH is essestially a 904 while a 36RH is a 727. You should be able to ID the transmission for sure by crawling underneath, taking a picture of the transmission pan and then matching the shape online, here for example.

I thought that starting in 1998, the RH trannies were replaced by the RE types. Look into this, hate for you to get the wrong parts.

3.9L gets the 32RH (Page 51).
OP, in addition to matching pan shape/pattern, you can verify the part ID stamped on the trans.

Mopar remanufactured should also have a stamped plate glued/riveted on it.

I suppose its possible you may have ended up with a shallower aftermarket pan.

Conversions sometimes were titled with a model year +1 the actual base vehicle model year. Looking up the VIN is the right approach.

i don't think the 3 speed ever got electric, just hydraulic - 32RH.
