Default 1988 Dodge Roadtrek camper - no fuel

Hi, I am going to buy this camper from a friend, I went to his house to start and no go. It has been sitting for 4 years. The 318 is not getting any fuel, I poured a little gas in the throttle body and she fired right up, for about 2 seconds. Can someone list or point me to the proper trouble shooting steps please. Thanks
Oz

If the gas is 4 years old it's probably bad or has water in it. Drain the tank, change the fuel filter modes the pump come on or is it a mechanical one?

Hi, the tank was on empty and I put 10 gallons of fresh gas in the tank. It cranks over fine, but the throttle body is bone dry. I poured just a little gas into the throttle body and she fired right up for a few seconds, the fuel pump is in the tank, I couldn't hear anything with my ear up to the tank and the key on.

It probably dried up on you. Welcome to the forum by the way. Hopefully someone else will chime in.

This is one of those repairs that should be simple, but could turn out to be a nightmare.

Most likely the rubber diaphrams in the fuel pump simply dried up and stopped pumping fuel. Unfortunately the debris from those parts can disintegrate and could have clogged up the fuel line and the the fuel injectors now. Check for fuel pressure, listen for fuel pump to activate when cranking. If none, check fuel pump relay. If good, replace fuel pump and inspect for debris.

That might be all required and I hope for your sake that'll do it.

If there is another relay like it, swap them.

Can you hear the pump? I think there is a fuel filter on the passenger side frame near the engine. I have a 1991 and it's great.
