Yeah it makes sense, guess it might be worth it to pay the extra but guaranteed locally in the event of another failure. I was looking for something to do till dinner time anywayso think i'll head out to the parts store

I agree with alloro...

But, I just got an Herko from ebay for privative maintenance . I have used Herko parts for a few years now and they have worked fine.

I've never heard of of that but sounds interesting, will have to slow down and make my small world a little bit bigger... Ill check that out, thank you!

I ended up at autozone which is closest and got the last duralast CPS! My lucky day I guess, they don't come often btw. It was $49.99 with lifetime warranty (thanks alloro) so not bad, rockauto 's top shelf was right about there too. I expected more like $99 or so, so not too disappointed.
Changed the CPS out and will give 'er a run this week to see how things go.

btw I did some digging in my garage and found I'd saved my old CPS, it was a BWD CSS813. Not the standard motors product i'd quoted earlier in this post, I may be mixed up and have gotten it from O'reillys and not rockauto .
I was gifted with photographic memory... it just never developed, lol
Sorry for that

Thanks for that Funair, haven't check it out yet but definitely will.

No more cutting out-then dieing while driving-then attempting to crank but no startup for a few minutes- these past couple days. Yesterday was only 15 or so miles in town, today took it upcountry toward Lassen to look at the next job I'll be doing, 65 miles total n 1/3 or so of it all uphill and cruised along normal for this ole van.

Tip my hat to you for the help alloro!
Also thanks to all for the replies to help

Get Delphi sensors! They are one of the suppliers for oem equipment. I don't trust any of the parts store brand junk. I had BWD sensor fail with in a few months of replacing it. I would change the cam or pickup coil in the distributor also. To get spark the pcm needs inputs from both can and crank sensors.

Yes Sir it does indeed! And much nicer than that trucker wagging his head at me like I'm an idiot the other day when it died on me. There was room enough for a cruise liner to navigate past me to get to where he needed to be at the oak harbor freight lines parking lot, oh well! It's been running good now.

I'll remember the delphi sensor for next time, napa carries it for $80 something but o'reillys and autozone don't here. I'm just hoping this one lasts more than the 1 year like the bwd did Will look into the pickup coil too. When i had changed to the bwd cps last time I did take the pickup coil to the parts store and compared to a new one and it looked darn near new side by side so I opted out of replacing it at that point, haven't checkit lately though.
