thank you blackvan and nibroc and everyone for your replies. hey black van I don't see how I can test ac when I only have 10-15 seconds after ac is on before that 20 amp starter/ac cartridge fuse blows. also, the last time I took an ac gauge test, months ago, it was totally full as far as Freon is concerned and I can't remember if I already told you this but I took it to a dodge dealer and the shop guy said that I might want to replace the starter because he thinks these year vans had some problems like i'm having because the ac/starter ran on the same circuit, something to that effect. anyway thanks a lot, I will perform these tests you suggest. merry christmas

 

find a different shop...an independent one...

they only reason to go to the dealer is
A. you car/truck/van is under warranty..
B. recalls...
