Default Lost power

I have a 1998 dodge ram van B 1500. The engine turns and will fire but only run a few seconds after I release the ignition key. The van lost power and barely made it home. Now I have this problem. The cap. rotor, wires, and plugs are OK. What else could the problem be? I was told a ballast resistor or a crank sensor could be bad. Any help out there??

Edited the title. You already had one thread going on this same subject, and now that thread is deleted since you started another thread on the same subject.

Is the check engine light on? What engine? I'm going to assume 318/360, if so, how is the plenum? Catalytic converter clogged? How many miles? The more information you can provide, the better we can assist you.

Bad oxygen sensor(s) can cause this problem as well and the CEL does not always illuminate. If you check all the common sense (ignition, fuel) low cost items and still have trouble you may wish to look at the O2 sensors. Check your fuel pressure - you might have a bad fuel pump.
