Default replacing oe o2 sensor plug

so my dog ate through the wiring, and all of the plug is gone....

I wired up my own plug after searching out the pin-outs, and although it was working just fine, and not throwing any o2 sensor codes, the smog tech failed it for being tampered with

I had tried to replace the plug, but dodge doesn't sell a new plug and pins, you have to buy a new plug, with pre-pinned wires, and splice into the vehicle harness....

I would like to replace the pins, with new pins, and then add the oem connector.... I have an oem connector, but how to I remove the pins already inside it? I think I have found the right sized pins from Fry's to use where it would be seemless

here is what Dodge wants to do:

You will likely spend about half the money on the wires and plug to fix it as you would on a new O2 sensor. Figure in your time ($$) and the possibility of another fail by the smog tech ($$$) and I think it wise to just replace the sensor with a new one and call it a day.

I got the new plug fro ma junkyard already, I just need to get the pins out, so I can replace them, and have it factory again.... without trying to splice in a new harness

Oh, I didn't get that the harness side was damaged also. Salvage yard is also what I would have suggested - seems like you are on the way to getting fixed up. And, feed your dog!

Dog is now gone.

Anyways, I have the new plug for the harness side. I just need to get the pins out, how can I do that?

so...... is there a way to remove the actual pins from the plug?

the vehicle harness side has the 4 male pins inside the connector.... how can I remove the pins while keeping the plastic intact?

I don't think you can do what you want as they are either 1. pressed in so hard that taking them out would destroy the connector or 2. the plastic is injection molded around the pins - in this case you wont get them out.

California is really screwy...the OEM manufacture's repair isn't good enough for them???? geee ----screw that place LOL

Seriously, you may want to consider getting the wiring from the PCM all the way to the O2 sensor and either replace that fully or splice it in a very hidden spot where the inspectors wont look...

ok, so I am just going to try it... I think I can get pins like that from Fry's.....

I know those pins come apart in the replacement kit, so they aren't molded in... but not sure if they are barbed to come out.... I did source a spare chunk of harness... so I will try it.

worse case scenario, I just picked up this: and will splice the wires into the stock if I need to -- then cover the rest with convoluted tubing and wrap with GAF tape.. that way it looks liek the fabric wrap that is on from the factory
