Shock Suggestion for Camper Conversion
#12
A stiff or bouncy ride in a extended 3/4 or 1 ton may just be the nature of the beast. The short wheelbase can give you a ride similar to a standard length school bus with a long over hang after the rear axle.
The new shocks can't hurt and will help if your currant ones are old or worn out but the ride may be stiff from the factory spring rate. Your handling will suffer and may become dangerous if you replace the current leafs with softer springs. We have had three extended Bvans in the family over the past 25+ years. When pulling a heavy trailer or have 500lbs+ (motorcycle) loaded the ride seemed perfect. The further aft the the weight is the softer the ride keep weight as low as possible.
