Default 2002 Dodge ram van 1500 5.2

My first car was a 1968 Dodge Plymouth Belvedere I bought from my uncle for $275.00 . I drove this huge car for a few months and decided to give it a minor tuneup. I put in platinum spark plugs and this car turned into a beast! I was young and didn't know much about cars and the only reason I knew it had a 318 engine was because people would stop me all the time and ask me to sell them the engine. My question is will it be worth it to put platinum spark plugs in my 2002 dodge ram van 5.2 318 to try to gain a little more power or should I stick to factory plugs, gap? About 10 years ago I had a 1993 couger xrl 5.0 and when I put platinum spark plugs in that it ran like crap until I put factory plugs in, is that because of fuel injection rather than carburetor like the 1968 Plymouth?

People have reported a performance loss with the platinum plugs. Stick with copper core.
