AC Not blowing cold air, figured it out, but a question
Hi, i bought a 1999 1500 Ram Van recently. I am actually pretty happy with it so far. The A/C was blowing lukewarm so I added more freon... which kind of helped but not really.
I messed with a few things, but what ultimately fixed it was dropped the glove box, and behind it, was a lever. I pushed the lever all the way in and suddenly it was blowing cold air.
I thought maybe there was a vacuum piston or actuator on the other side, but looking at diagrams online there might not be? The rod is totally unresponsive and limp.
It looks like it may be connected to either a switch or a motor (?) Could it be the temperature mixing valve? And if so, how do I get to the vacuum modulator? The top of the evaporator and heater core box looks impossible to get to from inside the engine bay.
Any help is appreciated.

Yes that is the blend door linkage. Inside and behind the glove box is where the blend door actuator mounts. If the linkage doesn't go to anything then the PO must've removed it to replace it and never did.
The actuator is #7 in the image on this page: http://www.ebay.com/itm/282016997708

Thank you so much! I believe that is connected. There is a rod that goes through the firewall into the engine bay. That's the rod I pushed in to get the ac to work. On the glove box end of the rod is a connector that goes down into an electrical sensor or something. The valve with two or more connections is there and connected... If I have to I'll get a picture but I only have a cell phone.
It's in the middle of the picture and there's a silver screw wedged in there behind the wires. Not the actuator on the upper left hand corner. Is the motor that black box with the wires coming out?

I had an issue with my blend door.
I took it to a tech I know and the door internally was rusted and wouldn't move correctly.
Just wanted to let you know. I had similar issues but I found this when my heater core leaked.

Yes, that is the blend door motor. As you turn the temperature dial up and down that motor will rotate and move the blend door linkage.
