Default 1978 b300 Won't stay on or start

Hello all,

I am the proud new owner of a Dodge, specifically a 1978 b300 camper van. Of course because of her age and the way she was stored we have had to do a bit of work on her engine but as of late we've been driving her and had a lot of great functioning until last night. I got her started up and was letting her warm up when I noticed she was starting to idle lower and slower as though she was going to stall. I gave the gas pedal some and she revved up then turned off. I tried again and she wouldn't start. Now we're getting her going again and she has been backfiring and idling slower and continues to turn off. We thought she needed gas since we couldn't see any fuel entering the carborator but we have since added gas. She also has a new fuel pump we put in months ago with no problems.

Any ideas?

I'd say bad gas if it's been sitting long. Carb I assume? Float is probably stuck.

Cleaned out the carburateur and lines..... the fuel was really bad. Managed to get her started again but she keeps deciding to sputter and stall out despite lots of cleaning. Got her to drive down the road but after 10 minutes of fighting for her to stay on....

If it were mine, I'd try a new ignition coil.

Fuel filter, carb, pump, all sounds fuel related.

Interesting theories thank you. She has a new carb, fuel filter (just put in to try to help resolve this), and pump. Hopefully it's needed the new filter and that will work itself out as we use her....

Hmmmm seems the carb was actually fiddled with and we have to re-position the idle screws.... I'll keep you posted thanks for all the suggestions

Any updates? Mine has been puffing in low gear occasionally as I rev up.
