I recently replaced all my radiator and heater core hoses on a 1978 Dodge B300 V8 400. I am currently in the process of a chemical clean and on the 3rd or 4th day I discovered a hole in the heater core hose near the water pump. Photos attached. Any idea what could cause this? My only theory so far is that some rust has been loosened by the cleaner and collected somewhere, causing a blockage and a pressure build up to split the hose. Though saying that I havent lost any material amount of water. Might I have tightened the clamp too much?
