Looking at purchasing a van
Hey all,
I'm new here and doing some research. I'm looking at buying a 1999 Dodge van 3500. It's an ex church van only 85,000 miles. Drives great, shifts smooth. Great and AC works. Only issues I see are a small clunk at the front passenger side, probably a strut, a brake squeeking at front passenger tire and some oil underneath. Can't tell if it's just the oil pan leaking or not. Going to look at it again and get a better look underneath. I'm going to use it for a work van.
Is there anything specific I should be looking for on these? Any known problems?
Thanks

front brake hoses are known issue for internal collapse causing front brakes to rub and wear out components... usually a $10 hose to replace on both sides...
rear main bearing leak possibly... can usually get some relief with chemicals
there should be a sticker pasted under the hood driver side giving details on engine size, rear end and tranny...
problems are that it is 20 years old... reliability can become an issue... buy it cheap
Get the tranny looked at.
