Default Starting Problems

Have a 1995 Dodge Ram 2500 van. 5.2 Litre Magnum engine. It takes 3 or 4 turns of the key to start when it is cold. Once it has started, it can be turned off & restarted instantly. It runs good once it is started. Any ideas on what could be causing the problem?

Quick turn-ons or do you turn it on and leave it on for a few minutes?

Wag: dirty throttle body or its internals or IAC. Air in the fuel system. Loose spark plug wires. Weak spark.

Default Starting problems

I have a B1500 Dodge Ram Van 2002 5.2 and I have same hard start, it sat for a long time too. I take it for granted you have fuel injection. The fuel pump has a check valve on it that keep the fuel from flowing back into the tank, when the engine is not running. your fuel system should maintain its fuel pressure with out the engine running, so fuel will be in the line at start. check your injector fuel line right before you try starting, most injector lines have a valve on it , that look like a tire valve, press it for a second, it should squirt fuel. be prepared to catch the gas a rag will do.You can do the same test after turning off the engine and after it sitting for a while.
