Default PCM or Connector ?

My 2001 DRV 3500 recently came out of "no buS" no start condition where the PCM (brain) was not communicating with the dash display and other systems. My particular fix, one possibility among many, was found on this site (and others) where the right most 32 pin connector was physically held tighter to the PCM- I used wire and read examples of bungie cords and zip ties also. Apparently this fix can work permanently but many times is only temporary or still allows a stall now and then. My question is if my fix does not hold well enough will a different PCM solve the problem permanently or is the connector the problem. The PCM itself contains the male half of the connector as an integral part.
Thanks

if your having a pin fit problem on one circuit....you can open the connector by removing the plastic secure, release the pin lock and pull the wire out of the connector. with the connector out you can adjust the tension with a pick. do a pin fit test with the pcm before and after you adjust the pin fit...there should be a slight drag. re-install the pin back in the connector and snap the platic secure in place.

Like others I could push around the right most connector to get some miles but "no buS" would return and sometime while driving stalling out. Running good now with "Mopar" refurbished (in 2013) PCM supposedly flashed to my vin and mileage from eBay.
Ive since learned it was significant the "no buS" condition started the same day I had a new catalytic converter welded in.
I think a connection inside the PCM became compromised probably during the welding and moving the connector would sometimes make that internal connection good but temporarily. One good thing van never ran this good as I think previous PCM had "learned" some bad habits adjusting for an extremely clogged cat. converter.
Just as a point of interest I'm now finally running after conking out in a rest area 3 weeks ago today where I was stuck 5 days waiting for my premium AAA 200 mile tow to kick in to get to my sister in laws spending another 8 days there working on the van to get to the point where I finally risked "terminal jiggling" to get the other 200 miles home where an electric specialist just looked at my van and said "get a new PCM online- it's a common problem with your van. After lost in mail then found got my new brain. I'm back!
