Default 1995 Ram 2500 van will not bring up the fuel from tank

New here - Hello! My 1995 Ram 2500 van has supposedly had 3, yes 3 new fuel pumps installed in it by a licensed mechanic at a actual auto repair shop that has always fixed things for me and never had any issues until now. It's a small block (318) v8 engine I believe.

So it ran fine for about 8 miles after the first new fuel pump install and then crapped out. Had it towed back to the shop and they as i said (supposedly) replaced first new pump with a second new pump. Second time I was able to drive it for about 30 miles from the shop and it once again would not start. When my guy showed up to flat bed it this second time, he tried to start it and it started right up for him but he chose to go ahead and load it up and make his money bringing it back to the shop. (I was a little peeved over this because a quick call to me and I could have had someone take me there so i could drive it back to the shop since it had started up for him.)

Anyway, after the 'third' new pump was installed i was able to drive the van one block from the shop to my home and when i went out to drive it the next morning it would not start and has not started since. The shop refused to work on it any more. This has been about a year ago and all it has done is sit since. This was my wheelchair lift equipped van and I really need to try to get it going again since I'm using my electric wheelchair almost full time now.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

This sounds like a silly question (and not just because it's coming from me) but have you checked the fuel pump relay? I always check that first before replacing a pump. Find your relay box and swap the a/c relay with the fuel pump relay. There are other things it could be but this is fast and easy. If it fires up, get a new relay and swap the a/c relay back.

Thanks there Ol' Grouch! LoL In my way of thinking there really are no dumb questions except the one someone didn't ask. Yes I tried the switching of the two relay switches already but it did not help. Every fuse is a good one too in my van. I can't get the engine cover off inside because the passenger seat is up tight against it because of how they installed my electric wheelchair lift directly behind it and I'm not healthy enough to get under the van to remove the seat bolts to take it out. I have a really bad crippling nerve disease called CRPS and I also just had 5 bypass heart surgery in June. No one to really help me either so I do what i can on my own.

If the shop wasn't a Dodge dealership service department take it to one. When the other shop replaced the fuel pumps did each one not run when tested when they replaced them. If each one was new and worked and then they quickly failed something must be shorting out the electric pump. Dodge will figure it out. Stop wasting time and money. You need your van and they will fix it. They might even help you some because of your health situation. They certainly won't want to fail you.

I have taken my 1994 B350 to the local Dodge dealership and they know everything about it, tell me what is needed before they do anything and stand by their work. They like seeing the 27 year old van too.

Take it to Dodge and problem solved. You can't DIY anymore. I can't do some jobs either and I am just fat and old and don't have a nerve disease. Do what you can but sometimes experts are needed.

A bit late but I just recently went through a similar situation like yourself. A long story short,it turned out to be a short in the wiring harness going to the fuel pump. That was after two fuel pump replacements and the second one quit working two days after install. I would have never found it... I have the same Van,same year.
