Hello. Just picked up a super clean 1990 B350 extended van. It came from a church in Mississippi. I’m from Michigan where rust holes the size of a dinner plate and rotted rockers are considered fair condition so I’m stoked about this ride. Plans are to gut it and turn it into a campmoble. I’d like to find a VW pop up top or equivalent to graph onto this so I can have headroom but not a boxy coffin sucking my gas milage.
I’m sure I’ll have some ignorant (to you guys) questions along the way and would like to thank you guys in advance for the help.
A couple quick ones if I may.
I found the dealers service manual but cannot find a parts manual with exploded diagrams and part numbers. Is there any place you guys go to get those?
I keep reading key dance on here. I imagine it’s quick keybursts without turning motor over for codes. Can someone explain this.
I asked a friend about going to get it scanned to see what it shows as my check engine light is on. He told me my local dealer doesn’t have anything for that old. Would other dealers have one if I keep going across the state looking?
Nice find! The key dance is: insert the key and turn it on, off, on, off, on, now watch for the CEL to flash the codes. The code will be a series of flashes for the first digit followed by a slight pause then a series of flashes for the second digit. This sequence will repeat for all codes, then the sequence will repeat for a total of 3 times, then stop.
