For my 01 3500 Ram Van 5.2L, I bought a remanufactured one from Cardone that was dead on arrival. So in my one experience, I would avoid them. After returning it and getting a refund (although now short my original core unit) I bought one from a junkyard. The numbers matched and there was no VIN/other programming required, it worked immediately, no ABS lights etc. Shipping from the junkyard was pretty expensive ($40) but the unit was reasonably priced and the core charge was pretty low.
Thanks for the heads up. So far out of 5 companies I have contacted only one has responded. So not looking good so far..
Protech is by far the best I've ever ordered a pcm from . Put one from them I'm my van 6 months or so ago , first fire up no codes and none since . Around 300 bucks with no core charge. They simply ask you to send one back if you want and send postage. You do t get a core charge or anything or like some armature companies. Give them the Vin and sit back , certain little things like on mine whether or not it had overdrive the6 called and verified. Actually the first they programmed failed their tests and he let me know that it would be 3 more days until they could get a good core from another warehouse . Still arrived in 6 days with a window of up to 10 so in my book it was still early and saved me the trouble of installing a faulty pcm.
i have ordered over 10 so far and none have failed or acted funny, threw codes or whatnot
Everybody I've dealt with there has been great, Chris especially
