So I have been shopping for an aluminum fishing boat. Nothing fancy, just like a 18 footer with an outboard. I'm not sure what those weigh though, and as my 2000 van is new to me I'm not sure about towing capacity either. I'm not sure on the rear end ratio. It does have a frame mounted hitch unlike my parents' b3500 which had the tow ball attached to the rear bumper.

I'd say you can pull 3500 with no trouble. There may be a sticker in the drivers door telling you the axle and possibly the ratio. Otherwise, crawl under it and see if there are metal tags on the differential. They are held on by the cover bolts. If you find one with 3.5 stamped on it, you have a 3.55 ration. 3.7 would be 3.73. I've seen 3.2 and 2.7 on tags over the years. I had 3.21 gearing in a W150 I had and it towed just fine up to 3500 with no sweat. As long as your cooling system is working good, you shouldn't have any trouble.
