Default 1984 VanCharger

I have a 1984 5.9 VanCharger with a no start issue. I am a bit perplexed because it would start by bridging the starter but it has ceased to do so and now has no crank and no start. I am hoping to discover what it was that originally caused it to start by bridging the starter but has now lead to no crank and no start. I am at a loss and appreciate any and all help from this forum. Thank you!

I'm not sure what a Vancharger is. Do you mean Ramcharger? I'd pull the starter and bench test it. Starters are pretty rugged but they do fail with age and use.

Information regarding VanChargers has been difficult to find at best. My understanding is that it was sent by Dodge to Pathfinder in the eighties to be converted to four-wheel drive.

I forgot to mention that the starter has already been bench tested and it was found to be functional.

there should be a relay before the starter, Do you hear it engage when you turn the key to start?
