Engine Light
Check the "check engine" codes by fliping the key almost to the start position quickly 3 times. On the fourth time, keep the key turned to an almost start with the dash gauges lit up. The "check engine" light will start flashing engine codes. Write down the number of times it would blink the light. The codes run in double digits. The end of codes is 55.
Next take the written down codes to your AutoZone store. They will key the vehicle and code into their computer and tell you what the issue is for FREE !!! I've been doing this for years. Usually, it's right on the money for finding the problem.
Peace!

OK, I tired my own advice this past week. My 2001 Ram Van doesn't respond the way I had mentioned above. BUMMER.
So, off I went to AutoZone. They hooked up a portable hand-held reader under the steering wheel dash location into the plug connector. After a minute while connecting and reading, the code of P0455 came up. Baically, it's a pressure leak in the fuel system. Guess what. My gas cap wasn't full on the vehicle !!! Once tighted, within 20 miles the light went out.
OK, so I'm learning too.
