Default parts interchangability 1988 150 Van

I recently bought a 1988 150 short window van, runs excellent but needs body and interior work.
It has front bucket seats and it looks like 1 set ot mounting holes in floor, what seats can i use, and how new? also it has very rusty side doors, not a slider. and the rear doors have been butchered by the last owner, and have no handles or locks etc. Any one on here know what year doors will fit my 88. I am also thinking of upgrading the rearend and driveshaft, will a 250 diff and shaft fit? I would like to stay with the 5bolt wheels!
Thanks in advance for any help.

As I recall, 1988 was the first year of a very minor body style change (tail lights, belt line, side doors moved forward on 127" wheel base vans, etc). That said, I believe that the doors from any 1988 throught 1992 van will work (and chances are that the doors from earlier "B" vans will work, too).

Regarding the side doors, Dodge uses the same side doors on te long and short WB vans. The rear most side door has a small notch in the outer skin, at the lower left hand corner. This is to clear the rear wheel well. Be sure you check your van for that little notch, and get doors that match.

As I recall, the rear axle from almost any "B" van will fit your vehicle. Take a backing plate to backing plate measurement, and also measure the locations of the shock mounts and spring pirches. Also be sure to check the spline count. There might be a diggerence between a 1/2 ton van and the larger ones.

Thanks Pluto! that was a good place to start. I guess this is a pretty useless forum for anybody with Dodge Van questions. Oh well maybe somewhere else? Anyway, I found a neighbor only about 4 houses away who has 1986 2500 conversion van that came from Georgia and he's ready to part it out!(for sale since Feb 06) I can get the whole van minus the brake parts and the rear foldabed for $200 Canadian! All the doors are same even the side rear door, all have working power locks and the 2 front have PW so I will try and wire in. Too bad the interior panels are tan VELOUR. No holes in any panels and original paint. I am actually looking into a 3.9 cummins, to install in place of the 318/5.2 .
That would make it a 1 of a kind 88 shorty!!!!!!
Cheers, Good luck getting any help on this site!

Yeah, there aren't a lot of vanners around any more. I can remember back in the late 70's, vans were keeping Dodge's doors open for business.

Anyway, good luck in your search.

There are a few of us around yet, though I only search for related sites about every 6 months or so because otherwise I'd spend all of my time online and not enough of it actually living. Pluto, is correct, I know for sure that the 83-87 vans are almost one for one on most of their parts since i've owned one of each. I'm glad you were able to find such a wonderful donor vehicle.
