Van dies out when I stop
Does anybody have any suggetions - my 2001 conversion van 3.9 engine dies out when I first start out - and only when I stop at a light. it also has happened when I stop and put the truck in reverse. took it to my mechanic and it did not die out ( of course ) I will sit at the light for a few seconds and sometimes the idle goes up and just dies out - it will start up right away. but once it is warmed up ( about 20 minutes of driving ) it will not happen then. I have 37000 miles on it - any suggestions will be appreciated.
First thing I would try.. and we have encountered this a lot....
Pull off the boot so you can see the butterfly valve in the TB.
If it looks dirty, spray half a can of carb cleaner on it. Start engine, manually rev engine up while spraying in the other 1/2 of the can in.
Be sure to get some into the IAC passage way as well.
Its a $9.95 fix. And like I said - we have run into this a LOT.
