intermittantly,the heating/cooling fan won't come on.i checked the fuse-ok.usually when i go over a bump the fan comes on and then when i go to start on another day it won't come on again.loose connection?or something else?anything to help would be much appreciated.

Check the fan switch and the resistor pack screwed into the firewall behind the glove box.

 

I'd lean towards the blower motor being worn.
You can check this by lightlytapping it with hammer and seeing if it starts.
