Default snow tire sizes 84 ram van

Hey again, just wondering if anyone could tell me what stock tire size is for my 84 ram van 1/2 ton 318 auto version. On the back right now: 235/75/15 on front 225/75/15
was wondering if i could run 215/75/15 (found a deal on tires)
Also I seem to have fixed my cold starting (choke?) problem however i was out for only about 10 mins other day and started fine and ran fine about 5 mins until warm and then when i gassed it hard it sputtered a bit and the alternator belt squealed at the same time. stalled once at a light, but started right back up. SOunds like probably a loose alternator belt to me. I slipped the belt off before this happened and spun the brushes and then spun perfectly so i dont think the alternator is bad.
Any ideas appreciated thanks again rod

Usually a vehicle's original equipment tire size can be found in the owner's manual or on the driver's door jamb, glove box lid, or inside the fuel hatch. Did you check these locations for a listing of the proper tire size?

But I do believe the correct size for both front and rears on your van is P235/75R15. As of right now your fronts are too narrow. Personally I wouldn't go with the 215 because of the reduced traction/stopping power that you're going to get.

It probably also depends on the rims, but Im fairly certain that my 83 had took 215 - 235 you will have more road traction with the 235's but probably slightly better gas miledge with the 215's safety is better than miledge though.

As to the stall at heavy accelleration when cold Im betting the carb is running rich/lean. These vans don't have fuel injection so you may be either over or under gassing it. If it is under, try replacing the fuel filter they are only about $3 the part number should be 20030 or some varient of that. if you have recently run it the van will start easier. no matter what the weather.
