Which van 2500 or 1500 how can i know? Overdrive?
I've got a Dodge Ram Van but there are no manuals with it, the car is imported from USA to Belgium, and in Belgium they say every Ram is a 1500 but my Ram has a V8 5.9L engine, the most i find on internet are 2500 RAM's... So is there a way how to find out it is a 2500 or 1500... I know the questions sounds stupid but nice to know what van i have...
My second problem is I never drived a automatic transmission, so overdrive is not known, i think it is the button with a D in a circle is that right? So when do i use it or when do i use it not... Nice to have a Dodge Van and no manual... again my own fault!

A B1500 can have a 3.9L/239cid, a 5.2L/318cid, or a 5.9L/360cid engine. Usually, the 5.2L and the 5.9L engines with the tranny have OD (over-drive). OD is mostly matched up with a 3.92 or 4.10 rear geared axle. If your rear axle gearing is 3.55, more than likely you have no OD.
The "D" just means DRIVE. On the Magnum Ram Vans from 1994-1/2 to 2003, the OD button is located at the end of the shift selection arm.
A B1500 - External dimensions: overall length (mm): 4,892, overall width (mm): 2,002, overall height (mm): 2,035, ground clearance (mm): 173, wheelbase (mm): 2,776, front track (mm): 1,694, rear track (mm): 1,692 and curb to curb turning circle (mm): 12,344
A B2500 External Dimensions: overall length (mm): 5,296, overall width (mm): 2,002, overall height (mm): 2,060, ground clearance (mm): 183, wheelbase (mm): 3,231, front track (mm): 1,694, rear track (mm): 1,605 and curb to curb turning circle (mm): 14,082
I own both a B1500 and a B2500. The B1500 with the V6 does not have OD. The B2500 V8 has OD.
What year is your Dodge Ram Van? Have you looked at the drivers inside door jam to see what the sticker says? Or even under the hood along the under part of the hood. Usually a sticker is placed there telling you what the van is.

Even if you cant find anything else, the VIN without the last 6 didgits will tell you the chassis and year. The last 6 digits are the part unique to your van, the rest is based on the configuration. The VIN is located on the driverside dashboard near the window. There may also be a plate bolted to the firewall behind the battery.
Also the Paper under the hood is the option sheet and will list special packages that are from the factory, The door plate has GVRW information, production time and another copy of the VIN.
Lastly the transmission itself with have a number cast into it I think on the drivers side near the front which is the transmission identifier.
As Stev says give a shout and someone will probably respond within a day or so.
