Default Rotor/hub Removal

Trying to get the front discs off a 99 Ram 2500 (8 lug nuts).

Got the caliper adapter / carrier off one side (after breaking a chrome 18mm socket and switching to impact socket).

I used PB Blaster and then propane torch on the carrier (not thebolt).

But I could not get the other (passenger) side broken loose.

Will try a longer breaker bar next.

Anyone else have any other tricks to try?

That or an air gun should do it.

I got the same 8-lug wheels. Yes, a longer breaker bar (4ft) helpd get those lugsoff.

Man, going back and re-reading my post -- it is confusing. I mean the caliper carrier bracket with thetwo18 mm bolts is stuck. Using the torch and hammer worked like magic on the Jaguar, but these things are much bigger.

I actually did have to use a hydraulic jack under the wrench one time, but this one is a down-stroke, so that won't work.

They probably have lock-tite blue on them, too: Do I need to use lock-tite when putting them back on? I see on AllData it just mentions to torque 'em down to a certain number (forget the amount, but will do).

Thanks again,
Lee
