Default Alternator Output Rating

I have a 98 Dodge Ram Pickup, 1500, 5.9L V8 and was wondering what my alternator output was rated. I installed a new car stereo system and wanted to make sure that it could keep up with it and keep my battery charged.

I also forgot to mention that i have a Die Hard battery that is 3.5 years old. I left the lights on in my cab last night by accident which drained it pretty good. I was still able to start it up without jumping it, but no matter how much I drive it, I can't get it to change to a green light (it stays black) on my battery. Would this be an indication to get a new battery, or should it last longer than that?

As long as it starts and runs I'd leave it alone. The alternator should hit about 120 amps. They are all different, unless you have a couple 1000watt amps, you will be fine.

Thanks for the input. I may take the battery to autozone or walmart to have them check it to make sure its not gonna croak on me. As for my audio system, I have a 150W x2 amp and a 600W x 1 amp, so I'm not pulling an extreme amount of power, although I wasn't sure if it would be too much for my alternator to keep up with.
